The Altone, the worlds smallest guitar amp attenuator.
Small tube amps are very popular these days. There are dozens of them ranging from 4 to about 15 watts. These amps sound great when cranked to their "Sweet Spot" where the power tube is overdriving, but even at these low wattage levels, they can be very loud. Commercial guitar amp attenuators can cost up to $500 and more. What's to be done?
The answer is the Altone guitar amp attenuator.
Designed for use with smaller amps rated up to about 15 watts RMS, the Altone is a low priced, great sounding attenuator inserted between the amp and the speaker, reducing the volume of the amp but retaining all the sweet tones it produces. The Altone is a -6db attenuator. For example, If you have a Silverface Fender Champ, the wattage the speaker sees will be reduced from 6 watts to 1.5 watts.
Painfully simple to use, you plug the output of your amp into the input of the Altone, and the output of the Altone connects to your speaker. The true bypass switch removes the Altone from the path completely, leaving your the tone unaffected in any way.
The Altone is available in 4, 8, and 16 ohm impedances to match whatever your amp requires.
